Kenya, November 8, 2017 – Companies have highly invested in the continent of Africa due to the ready market by the virtue of the demographics. The increasing population in the continent has been a great market for industries to venture into it.
Indian global telecommunications Services Company has recorded another milestone in Africa, as its subscribers move to 82 million at the end of September. The company saw the number rise by 4.8 percent year-on-year to the mobile subscribers’ tally being significantly added. They as well registered 21.7 million data subscribers which is an increase of 20.1 percent.
Airtel Africa CEO Raghunath Mandava said the data traffic went up by a massive 83.8 percent year-on-year, by the virtue of increased data subscribers. Airtel Money transaction value saw an expansion of 31 percent hitting to $4.9 billion. This has been a great series of record for the Indian company over the year.
The company was able to lure a number of Airtel Money customers which grew by 3.5 percent to 9.5 million. This was a sign of subscribers using the money services for their transaction that has brought further competition in the market with other telecoms. On the other side, during the quarter, the tally grew to 424 million, an increase of 23.8 percent.
