NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 8 – Uchumi Supermarket has appointed Andrew Dixons to the position of Chief Operating Officer with effect from Monday 6th November 2017.
The firm says this is part of strengthening the organization going forward.
The position had not been substantially filled since the exit of the previous office holder.
Uchumi Supermarkets had poached Naivas Supermarkets Retail Business Executive Willy King’ara to be the Chief Operating Officer (COO) but he resigned after a short stint and went back to Naivas.
Dixons comes with a wealth of retail experience, from various countries especially public listed companies, of transforming and developing consumer-facing companies.
“I welcome Andrew to the Uchumi Supermarkets Plc Team. He comes at a time when Uchumi requires his expertise as we walk the last mile of turnaround” said Uchumi Chief Executive Julius Kipngetich.
This comes a month after he resigned from the struggling Nakumatt Supermarket where he was the Chief Marketing Officer.
